Legal Question in Medical Leave in Pennsylvania

Maternity leave

My company does not offer short term disability and I was wondering if I could get unemployment for the 6 weeks I would take off for maternity leave?

Re: Maternity leave

You asked if you can collect unemployment compensation while you are out on FMLA leave.

That was a very good question. The answer is probably. Unemployment law and regulations are applied by circumstance and the agency has some latitude to set and interpret rules regarding when a worker is eligible.

You should contact the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry to discuss this matter. You should also take a look at their Website. This section is a short analysis of when a person is eligible: www. .dli.state.pa.us/landi/cwp/view.asp?a=152&q=206174

Hope that helps.

Regards,

Roger
