Speeding in a work zone

I was pulled over for speeding in a work zone. I just noticed that the speed limit had gone down to 45 right before I was pulled and I was going with the flow of the traffic. According to the ticket I received I was going 73 in a 45 mph work zone. I was given a ticket for $415 and am required to go to court. I am a careful driver with only one point on my license from my first speeding offense two years ago. What is the maximum punishment I should expect at the court date? Is it possible to assign a jail term at a trial for that speed to a good driver? What does all this mean??

Believe it or not, jail is "possible," but highly improbable. Your ticket is for 28 miles over the speed limit, which is a 6 point violation. Every time I have ever represented a person with a speeding ticket, I was able to get the points and fine reduced. They will almost always reduce the fine amount, and the points they will drop by 2 points. So if you have a 6 point violation, it is dropped to 4. If you had a 4 point, they would drop it to 2. The only time that they are not willing to reduce a speeding ticket, is if the driver was nasty to the police officer, or if the driver almost seriously hurt someone, which is rarely the case.
