Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Tennessee

What does ''Order Granting Voluntary Dismissal '' mean?

I received a Certified letter in the mail which was actually a civil summons to a court of general sessions on an old credit card debt on an amount of $6,928.00 (included all interest & fees).

Aweek later I received by mail again, a letter of a proposed Order Granting Voluntary Dismissal of this same case.

Does this mean that I don't have to go to court over this and that they are not going to try and collect this money?

I have never heard about or seen anything like this and if it means that they are not going to take me to court and try to collect - why would they do something like this one week after sending me a summons?

Thanks

What it means is that whoever filed the lawsuit against you decided that he didn't want to fool around with it at this time and so he "unfiled" it, or voluntarily "dismissed" his own lawsuit. However, he could decide to re-file it again at a later date so don't feel safe yet.
