Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Texas

Credit Card Charge

I made reservations at a hotel in uvalde, tx for this weekend for 4 rooms to go dove hunting. I gave them my credit card number for late arrival. I called the hotel today to cancel 3 of the 4 rooms because the other men could not go because of work. The hotel told me I could not cancel the 3 rooms and that my credit card would be charged for all 4 rooms ( for 3 nights each @ $99.00). They increased their rates for this weekend from $60.00 a night because it is opening of south zone for hunting. That is a total of $900.00 that we will not be using. Can they charge my credit card for that? And also can they increase there rates just for a weekend?

Re: Credit Card Charge

Many hotels charge higher rates in season than daily rates. Whether they can charge for your cancelled rooms would depend on their cancellation policy. You might try to contest these charges through your credit card. They might intercede on your behalf.
