Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

My son's father was incarrcerated for 13yrs,released 1yr&half give or take my son is now 16.His father just started paying child support.My question is what about those 13yrs.Does he just get away with that smooth and clear.I mean i totally supported my son with my pay check never asked for a hand out.I feel its not our fault he didnot respect the law.Can we get some of those years paid thank-you.

Based on what you have stated, you can file a petition for retroactive child support. Generally, the courts will go back four years and with special cases, the courts can extend or shorten that timeframe.
