Legal Question in Employment Law in Texas

Hello my nane is Mike. I'm in Tx. My ? is, My boss in N.Y. owes me still about $2000 and has for months. Can I file some kind of action against him on my own. Do I go down to the court house (and then ask for what) does it cost.

You might be able to pursue this case in small claims court. To do that you need to go to the Justice of the Peace (J.P.) and the clerk may (???) tell you what you need to do to file the law suit.

But the Texas J.P. will have to have jurisdiction over the defendant and venue must be proper (although venue can be waived by the defendant). If your boss does business in Texas or comes to Texas and you can serve him while he is in Texas, then you will be able to get jurisdiction.

It will cost you to file suit (our local J.P. charges about $200).
