Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Virginia

Non-licensed company obtained judgement against me

I actually have 2 questions:1) If a loan/credit card company is not licensed with the Virginina Corporation Commission, therefore not legally licensesd to do business in VA, can they go to court, sue me and gain a judgement against me? According to the Clerks Data System of the VA Corporation Commision, they're last entry is dated 9/30/06 and listed as ''PURGED'', but the Judgement was in 2001. Plus, they now have no Registered agent listed in VA. 2) According to Virginiai code 8.01-296, mailing a letter is a sufficient method of service of a summons. If I never recieved a summons and/or they don't have proof provided to the court that they mailed that summons, can my judgement be overturned on that basis? Please help me!!

Re: Non-licensed company obtained judgement against me

Why not put the matter before the court

having jurisdiction by filing a motion to vacate or set aside the judgment?
