Legal Question in Criminal Law in Virginia
My ex-employer lied & falsified documents
What can I legally do when my ex-employer lied in court & falsified documents which ultimately caused me to be found guilty of theft ? I was the sole employee, he is the owner/ operator of a small tow co. I drove one of the trucks. Our tickets were all hand-written. He is retired military, I am a productive member of society, but unfortunately have a criminal record from trouble that I had gotten myself involved in over 18 years ago, with no other probs w/ the law except for a driving while license suspended when I drove my pregnant wife to the doctor 2+ years ago... My past record was used in court to show a ''pattern'' of disregard for the law & of course it made my ex-employer the credible one in eyes of the court. But the prob is, I was used as a scapegoat for some sort of fraud that he had to be involved in, and I did not steal from him. What can I do now? If I had financial abundance, I am sure that there would be plenty of lawyers that would help me, but that is not an option for me right now. Also, he never paid me the last paycheck that he owes me.

If you can not afford to hire an attorney, you might try the Virginia Legal Aid Society and/or one of the local or state bar groups.
Good luck.
