Child custody

I have a joint custody with my ex but my child is physically lives with my ex because my job that require me to travel a lot (a flight attendant). Now i'm looking for new job and want my son to physically lives with me. What am i suppose to do? do i need a lawyer or just go to the court to file the petition by myself..can i do that?

Yes, you could go to the J&DR Court in the city or county where the child currently lives and file to modify custody, but it would be advisable to have an attorney reprersenting you.

And, if the custody matter is still within the jurisdiction of the circuit court which awarded you your divorce, you will need to have an attorney

representing you to reopen the divorce and file the motion to modify the current custody order.
