Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

child support for adult child

My stepsons are 21 and 22. we are paying back child support and I was just wondering what the laws where regarding this. Does the money now go to the children or to their mom?

We are preparing to pay the balance due in one lump sum and there is a discrepency in the total amount due (fla says one amount and va says a different amount) and the person who receives the money can drop the interest amount.

Re: child support for adult child

The back support goes to the mother because you are theoretically

paying her back or reimbursing her for the expense of supporting the two

children. I can't really comment on which amount is

correct other than to say that you should contact

child support enforcement in the state where you reside

and confirm the amount. Good luck to you.
