Legal Question in Family Law in Virginia

termination

I haven't seen my kids in over 5 years and want to terminate my rights. If the ex does not want me to do that can I still petition the court to do it and what is the likelyhood he will grant it. I have had no contact with them in 5 years not even a phone call because I don't want to.

Re: termination

In the Commonwealth, generally speaking, parents

are simply not permitted to voluntarily terminate their parental rights simply because they want to

and without good reason such as a child being adopted.

Your TPR petition is therefore likely to be denied.
