Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Virginia

My roommates friend broke into my locked bedroom while I was away on business, My roommate invited him into the apartment and was aware he was breaking the lock and entering my room. I found out because the friend bragged about breaking into my room and stealing skittles and other very minor items, can I legally do anything?

I live in the state of Virginia.

What's the fair market value of these skittles and these "other very minor items"

at the time they were taken which is another way of asking as to what your claim to provable damages would be worth arising from the situation described.

If it's little more than a few bucks it would not appear worth bothering with in

terms of suing this miscreant in small claims court who apparently was very proud of himself for having jimmied the lock to your room and then skeddadled off with your skittles.
