EMail interception and blocking of a minor

Hi and thanks for your time.

I recently asked my child's school to delete an email from her step-mom. My reasons were that it would have been very upsetting and unnessesary for my child (aged 13) to read.

Has the school breached her rights by doing so? The step-mom thinks that they have and is potentially trying to get the school into trouble.

What legal framework governs this in the states. Though the school is actually located in the UK, the email orginated from the states.

The act of deletion took place in the United Kingdom, and is subject to their laws and European Union privacy laws. It is a complex set of laws and would require a person well versed in British and EU law.
