Many office will allow you to set up an appointment to speak with the prosecutor assigned to your case. However, you would be far wiser to consult with a defense attorney first, since you might make your case worse by admitting certain things to the prosecutor or displaying certain attitudes in front of him or her. Because the collateral impacts of domestic abuse are so severe (loss of employability and right to possess weapons, potential loss of right to vote and hold public office, etc.) however, I would always recomend that someone charged with such things retain a lawyer.
