Legal Question in Employment Law in Arizona

I want to know if the Arizona labor code spells out the right to view my personnel file, including any complaints. If it is spelled out in the code, where can I find it? I've been able to find it in the California code, but not in the Arizona code.

A complaint was filed against me and the action taken by the employer seems inappropriate and it continues to impact my ability to move up and on with this company. I would like to see the actual complaint so I can understand why I am being treated this way. The person who filed that complaint has since been fired, so there can be no issue of retaliation againt him by me. I have a feeling he named others in the complaint, but can't the company just black out those names and give me a copy?

Thank you for the question. Unfortunately, in Arizona, an employee has no right to view any company files, including personnel information. The only exception to this is for employees of a public entity. If you work for the state, county, or a municipality, you can submit a public records request and usually get your file. Unless you work for the government, then, your employer will have no obligation to turn over the records.
