Legal Question in Family Law in California

In California, Family Law, I was ordered to pay an "estimated" Attorneys Fee amount in advance of the matter being settled. It appears the amount will be less than what was ordered as the matter is settling in advance of trial. When brought up to Opposing Counsel they state "even if there were a lesser amount then awarded, you wouldn't be entitled to a refund."

What avenue to I have for return of funds apparently overpaid?

Your post does not make sense. If you were ordered to pay attorney's fees, then that was a pendente lite fee order, which should have been appealed at the time if you did not agree with it, or thought it was improperly ordered.
