Being Fired

I was wondering if you can be fired in the state of California without any warning? I was sick but had written doctors notes excusing me every time I was out of work. I was not given warning and was told as long as I had a doctors note I was okay.

You're at will and can be fired any time for any reason. Take the money and run.
