If the lender of a personal loan dies is the debt owed to his estate?

As this question was directed to a British Columbia law firm, it must be answered with reference to B.C. law. The answer is yes, in B.C. a debt owed to a deceased person s owed to his estate. The debtor can not escape payment because the person to whom the debt was owed died.
