Child support modification/contempt
I live in Connecticut and was divorced in 2000. I am being brought back to court for modification of child support, order to show cause & contempt to show cause. My divorce agreement had said that for the last two years I was suppose to pay $65.00 a week. My ex-wife has done nothing but bully me, harrass me and alienate my kids from me. I never see them on a holiday or their birthday. We did agree to joint custody with no terms. They are twenty and eighteen now. In order not to go back to court two years ago I paid her $100.00 a week. I recently stopped that and figured out I had over paid her a lot of money. Now I am trying to stick up for myself. I told her she was going to get the adjusted amount for the rest of the term which is thirteen months at $10.31 a week. My financial situation has changed also since then with more responsibilities. What are my options ? Also if there is anyway I can give her grief or make her life uncomfortable I would do so leagally !

Sorry to hear that the kids are 18 and 20 now and that you have been deprived of seeing them. They have been old enough for some time to make their own choices though. About the money, whether you can rightfully diminish the remainder that you say you owe depends on the agreement that you made to avoid going to court. Was it in writing? Was it put on the record in court? Do you have evidence of your payments? Your raise many questions that need to be reviewed along with the documentation from your divorce and later agreement.
