Legal Question in Family Law in Florida

Blackmail

My ex boyfriend and father to my 11

month daughter has not been

dealing well with my decision to leave

him. He went into an old computer

and removed photos of a sexual

nature (photos of myself taken 6

years ago at a ''fetish party''), and

has been threatening to send them

to my place of employment (i am a

public high school teacher), if i do not

comply with his various whims. Out

of fear I have been complying for the

last 2 months. This past week,

however, the requests became

sexual in nature. He wanted me to

take nude and very explicit photos of

myself for him, and he wanted to be

intimate with me. He said that if I

said no, he would send the photos. I

said no. He has told me he is going

to send the photos to everyone I

know, including my principal and

current boss (I have a summer job to

support my daughter as he has yet

to pay one cent of child support). He

and I were never married (I don't

know if that is relevant or not). I am

afraid for myself and my daughter. I

am afraid for my career. I have him

on tape clearly stating all of what I

am telling you (he did not know he

was being recorded). What steps do I

and can I take? What do I do next?

Re: Blackmail

This is why, if you are going to have weird sexual "hobbies," you don't memorialize them on film.

At any rate, it doesn't seem there is much else to do but report this to the police, but also speak to a lawyer. He's committing a crime, though, if the conversation you taped was on the phone, you may have committed a crime as well.

Re: Blackmail

Go to the police and States Attorney Office. You may also sue him civilly.
