Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Florida

Death of family member in 1946

My grandfather was an alcholic. He lived in plant city. On christmas day 1946 he got drunk, got in trouble with the plant city police dept. I heard by relatives and even his friend that because of him being rowdy..He ended up dead in their jail. They beat him and then hung him to make it look like he did it. Because of his death he left behind 7 kids for my grandma to raise. Can his family get any kind of settlement after that long ago. Everything was hush hush back then according to relatives.

The statute of limitation in bringing any type of claim has long passed but your story would make a great movie.
