Since you don't explain the nature of your court date, it is difficult to advise

you in specific terms. Generally, a person in your situation can contact the

court, explain the situation, and ask for a continuance of the hearing. You

may have to call the judge's assistant or the attorney for the other party

(which may be a state's attorney or assistant if it is a criminal or traffic

matter); however you should be able to get a continuance which avoids

court issuance of a warrant.

You might also contact the court to see if you can appear by telephone.
