Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Georgia

warrant for late car payments

My ex husband financed a car at a ''but here pay here'' car lot. He became incarcerated, and got behind on the payments. The owner of the car lot filed papers for a warrant to be issued against him. I have taken over ownership of the vehicle, and all payments are current. However, the warrant against him has not been dropped. I am being told that once it is issued, even if payments are briught up to the date, the warrant remains in effect. Could you please tell he how to get help him get it dropped?

Also, what charge would the warrant be for?

Re: warrant for late car payments

You should consult with a local attorney who can review all the documents. As long as payments are current, the seller should have no legal reason to pursue a warrant.
