Child Visitation
I live in Illinois, and I just filed divored paper's 2 weeks ago, so we have not been to court yet. We have set up a visitation schedule on our own, but nothing ordered by the courts. My son's father harrasses me about the divorce and our relationship each time I drop off or pick up my son at McDonalds. I've told him many times I don't want to talk about it, but he still does it. He also called the police on me because I came to his work, as he (my husband) asked me to do the previous Sunday, to pick up the child support he owed because he forgot to bring it over the weekend he had our son. The officer told me that he doesn't legally have to pay child support yet. My question is, do I legally have to let him have visitation? If I do have to, how can I get someone to be there when the drop offs and pick ups happen so that he stops harrassing me and doesn't call the police again?

Hello. I can understand your frustration. If you do not have a lawyer representing you in the divorce, you need one. These issues are very complicated. It is in the best interest of your child that he
see both you and dad on a regular basis, but you should not have to put up with this harrassment. You may need an order of protection which can
be drafted so that it will not affect your son's ability to see dad. You should act quickly so that this situation does not get out of control.
