Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Illinois

illegal eviction

Can you be evicted for one noise complaint and having lights on to all hours of the night? My son has a month to month lease contract, has only been there 19 days and all of the sudden is told he must be out by the time the rent is due in a week and a few days!! Can they do this or don't I have at least 30 days so I can find another place to live? Wouldn't I be due my rent /or portion of rent back since I didn't get a whole month?Plus my deposit? Thanks Upset and confused

Re: illegal eviction

A person can be evicted for one lease violation. Is there a written lease?

I wouldn't give in to the threat. The landlord needs to go through the court eviction process that takes like 2 months on average. Call the police if he tries to physically remove you from the property.
