Legal Question in Civil Rights Law in Louisiana

RN contract not honored

I am a new travel Nurse and was

suppossed to start a job on June 1st

through a contract agency. Well two

days ago agency called me and said

the facility would not honor the

contract. I did some investigating

and in actuality, the AGENCY did not

submit the required paperwork on

time so the facility then withdrew its

offer. The agency had told me that

everything was ready and all I

needed to do was show up. They

were suppossed to also supply

housing, rental car and travel

reimbursment. I quit my job and

moved out of my apartment to take

this job. I am now stuck with a

nonrefundable ticket to Alaska, no

job and no place to live. They have

offered me NO compensation. The

contract I signed only seems to only

bind me but not them. Can they get

away with this?

Re: RN contract not honored

The answer will depend on the language of the contract/agreement you have. You should send the contract/agreement to an attorney to review.

Yep.

But, all is not lost. The agency would probably rather help you find another position than have to deal with litigation over this matter, so try to negotiate with them, even though you're in a tough spot.

Since your contract was with them, and they failed to honor it, you can probably use that as a reason to go to the ultimate client and offer your services.

First, though, take your contract to a reputable attorney,--you might be able to sue them in the long run for breach of contract, but it's not going to help you in the short term.
