How much do text messages and social media messages (facebook) hold up in court?

They're admissible and often very helpful. However, the key is authentication, which can get technical. If the person posting or texting is in court and admits it's theirs, it's in evidence. However, if not, it gets more complicated: issuing subpoenas for the records, having them certified, etc.
