rumors

I passed on a rumor,that got me terminated,they are now sueing me,the rumor is not the main reason the company was released from service,but that is the main reason for the law suit.The owners of the property relased them for shoddy book work,among other things,according to the owners of the proprty.Please tell me how much trouble I am in.Thank you.

It is not entirely clear whether you are being sued by another employee, your former employer, or some third party.

The extent of your liability will greatly depend on what was said and the circumstances under which it was said. Based on the limited facts in your post, possible claims by the plaintiff include defamation, tortious interference with the plaintiff's business relations, etc. You may have exposure to civil damages if you are found to be liable.

Regardless, if you have been sued, you have only 20 days to prepare and file an answer to the plaintiff's complaint from the time it was served.
