In other words, the employer can harass an employee because he doesn�t like him, but the employer cannot harass the employee because of his race. Other protected areas are set out in state and federal laws, such as prohibitions on harassment and job discrimination on the basis of pregnancy, filing of workers� compensation claim, and whistle blower situations. The remedies or consequences of such behavior varies. If a co-worker or supervisor is at fault, that person may be fired. If the organization condones the behavior, the injured employee may have an action for monetary damages or reinstatement to a lost job.
