Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in New York

Continuous phonecalls from creditors

Unfortunately, I've been out of work for months & way behind in my credit card payments. Although I have explained my situation to them, they continue to call 3-5 times a day starting at 8:00 in the morning all the way up to 9:00 at night. They even bother me on Sunday evenings.

How can I stop this harrassment?

Get the name and address of the company(ies) who are bothering you and send them a certified letter to CEASE AND DESIST.

Every state has a Fair Debt Collection Practices Act. So does the Federal Government. Go to your library and obtain a copy. Read it for the procedure for you to follow to get them off your bac. Good luck.
