Legal Question in Civil Litigation in New York

I bought a car from a private seller, on the receipt he wrote "as is". When I went to have it inspected, it would not pass a safety inspection due to a rotted frame. The seller originally agreed to pay half of the repair bill and then backed out. Do I have any legal recourse?

You should have had car inspected prior to purchase. So,... unless, the terms of your repair agreement was written and signed by seller; or seller did something to hide the condition to effect the sale, you do not appear to have any legal recourse.

Good luck,.
