Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in North Dakota

mother to resign from trust

My parents set up a revocable living trust. My father died last year, leaving my mother as sole trustee. My brother and I are listed as successor trustees. Because my mother has Alzheimer's disease, it was recommended that we have our mother resign from the trust. The taxes have been always filed as a joint return under their SS #'s. If she resigns, will we need to get a Tax ID# for the trust - and if so, how does that affect tax liability? Our mother also still has some bank accounts under her SS#, as well as an IRA - would we then also need to file separately for those accounts? Or perhaps everything in her name only at this point should be transferred to the Trust now; at her death, that would happen anyway, according to her pour-over will.
