Legal Question in Family Law in Ohio

Proof of Residence

I understand you have to be a residence of Ohio for 6 months before you may file for divorce. What sort of proof do you need to present to a lawyer or judge that shows you have resided in that state for said amount of time?

Re: Proof of Residence

No proof is generally needed. You will however at the final hearing of your divorce have to testify under oath that you have been a resident of Ohio for six months and a resident of the county that your filing in for 90 days. Feel free to contact me with further questions. Thank you.
