Legal Question in Family Law in Texas

I need to know if I have to appear in Court when I reside in Tx with my child for 3yrs and the father hasn't seen her since 2004. I just recieved a summons that I have to appear in court next week in IL. What do I do?

I would suggest you contact a local attorney where the case is in IL.

You may also want to contact a local attorney to review the summons, as there may be an issue with the validity and reasonableness of the summons. If necessary, the local attorney can then work with an attorney in Illinois to resolve any issues related to the summons, and may even be able to eliminate any need for you to appear in Illinois in person.
