Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Texas

i live in a neighborhood where we move in we got a set of HOA rules. But nothing was enforced. Some people got different rules during closing. the last house was sold and Clayton turned the HOA over to the neighborhood. Certain people in the neighborhood have elected themselves on being board members and having a vote on rules. We are supposed to be a self-govern community. Do I have to be a part of this? I rather not anyone to be able to tell me what i can or cannot do with my property

Get yourself on the homeowner's association so you can have a voice in how the community is run. Responsibility and freedom go hand in hand. What is it you would like to do with your property which the rules are preventing?

Good luck.
