Legal Question in Family Law in Washington

My ex-husband has residential of our child and in Washington. We have joint custody of our child, but I live in Kansas. I just found out via website that he is in jail for 4 felonies, and his mother has my child. She will not give him to me as she didn't even notify me when this happened, what do i do.

Based on your statement that you have "joint custody", I presume you have a parenting plan that provides you with some residential time during the year. In that case, you have a chance to get custody of the child

The best thing to do would be to contact an attorney in WA.

Ultimately you would want a Modification of Parenting Plan in court, beginning with a temporary order, but you may also be able to go to WA and pick up the child directly. Without more information, there are too many variables to say what would be the best course of action. It would thus be best to seek legal advice to know the berst course of action.
