Legal Question in Family Law in Alabama

Establishing Paternity after death

My father died April 18, 2002 and there is no legal document verifying that I am his eldest child. My dad lived in New Jersey. The vital records in Alabama (state I was born)said that I could have my dad ''declared as a parent''. I am not sure if that is the correct title. I have several documents, my marriage license, pictures etc. with my Dad on them. What is the correct way to have my dad declared as my biological parent?
