dog bite

my dog bit a child. Dog on a leash. are we liable?

As the owner of the dog, you are automatically liable. If a claim is made against you, your homeowners insurance will cover it. Notify them if a claim is made. "On the leash" does not matter. The fact that the dog has not bitten before does not matter. There is no free first bite in Arizona. The fact that a child was bitten may erode any defense you have of provocation. Make sure you have the licensing information on your dog.
