Re: messy breakup

Signing your interest in the home to your boyfriend does not separate you from him financially, particularly if you were the co-borrower with him when you purchased the home. There are other potential financial entanglements involved when you live with someone and you are not married.

Please be sure to consult with experienced legal counsel before you do anything. Your situation is best resolved by the two of you coming to an agreement how you will separate and deal with the home and other liabilities.

Re: messy breakup

If your name is on the loan, then you shouldn't sign the house over to him. He'd own the whole house and you'd still be liable for the loan.

They only way to do this is to have him refinance and get a new loan in his name only.
