Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Arkansas

No Will-Please help

My mother died in Arkansas in May 2000 having never executed a will. She was a homemaker and up until the death of her mother in 1996 had never owned assets independantly of my father. Soon after my grandmother

died, the farm she grew up on was sold and my mom's

share of the proceeds was about $100,000, which she invested in CDs on the day of the closing. Since my dad was with her that day and since his property is in both names, she put both his and her name on the cds as well as adding his name as a signer on the bank account

she and my grandmother shared. When my mom was dying

in the hospital, she made my dad promise in my presence

to split what my grandmother left her between my sister

and me upon her death. My dad just informed me that he

has no intention of honoring his promise and that we will receive these funds after his death. Is there anything that can be done at this point?

Re: No Will-Please help

Since your mother died in AR, absent any facts that somehow implicate TX law jurisdiction over this matter will be in AR; therefore you should consult an attorney in AR.
