Legal Question in Family Law in California

Spousal Support

On Sept 09 my legal oblogation for spousal support will be at a close, but my ex-wife's lawyer put a garnish on my wages. And there is no stop date and my payroll dept. say's they need a stop payment from the courts. Please advise on the procedures.

Re: Spousal Support

The order for spousal support should have a stop date if such exists. If not then you will need to file a motion to set a stop date.

In a general sense, you nee dot file an Amended Earnings And Support Order For Spousal Support. The process will depend upon what the terminating event is, such as a specific date set forth in the underlying Judgment, remarriage, etc.

For a specific opinion regarding your individual circumstances, I suggest that you consult with an experienced family law lawyer. Experience is not expensive, it's priceless!
