Legal Question in Employment Law in California

Hello,

I was working as a lecturer in one of the colleges in Gujarat while working on project for my Masters degree research. I joined college after I completed all courses, etc.

Only research portion was pending when I joined college. After 1 year of working there (when I was almost finished with my Masters degree), they asked to sign bond to serve college of 3 more years. I refused the to do that. They did not say anything and I resigned from service after 3 months from this incidence.

After 1 years, they send communication that they filed a case on me claiming all my earned salary+interest.

They also claimed that I did not sign bond on time and left job even after given benefits like allowing to take leave for attending lectures for masters degree (which is bogus because I completed my courses before joining college), adjusting work hours (again this was not happened in reality), etc.

Similar thing happened to many other people serving in college at same time and doing Masters degree at same time. But in case of other people, college sponsered their study (by giving them fees, etc.). In my case, I completed course work and did not get any money from college for anything for master's degree.

Please let me know your opinion.

Regards,

---

If you are talking about work or study in a foreign country, no one here can offer you an opinion on that country's laws. Contact an attorney local to there if you can find one that knows their laws on the subject.
