My husband was working at his job for almost 2 months he was at this time getting paid cash he got hurt on the job went to the hospital and was told to stay of work for a couple of days once he tried to return his employer was avoiding him not allowing him to go back to work what should be his next step

Have your husband call an employment law attorney to discuss. It is unlawful to retaliate against an employee because he/she may have a workers' compensation claim. If the employer was paying cash, it may be possible that the employer doesn't carry workers' compensation insurance and is fearful that your husband may sue them or get hurt again and sue. It is unlawful for employers to not carry workers' compensation insurance.

Look for work. This time legal, on the books.

File for unemployment against that employer.

File a claim for wages and benefits with the local Labor Commissioner. They should be interested in the under the table issue.
