Legal Question in Employment Law in California

can a job withhold your commission?

my work decided to punish me because i recently got a DUI by taking my commission for the next month and making me go to AA classes once a week for a month. i dont understand how your employer can repremand you for something that happenned in your personal life. and they are withholding some of my sales for the previous month when i was not on "punishment". is that legal?

You could be disciplined or fired, but not deprived of earned compensation. You could file a claim with the Labor Commissioner to get your pay with penalties.
