Legal Question in Employment Law in California

I'm worried about my disabled 66 year old uncle. A live-in care giver was hired 2 years ago this December. Since she went to work my uncle, he no longer talks with the family and has since filed a suit against my parents. She is a live in care giver and has isolated my uncle from everyone in the family. She is filing timesheets for 7 days a week $18 an hour for 8 hours a day. When she was hired, she was told she would recieve room and board plus $9/hour 16 hours a day. She was told someone else needed to be hired for 2 days a week. She said absolutly not and my uncle agreed with her. I'm very afraid she is setting my uncle up for a lawsuit when he loses the suit against my parents.

If you feel treatment is improper, or he is being taken advantage of "elder abuse", you could contact social services and request investigation and criminal charges if appropriate. The family could also file for conservatorship or guardianship if he needs that supervision. Talk to a local probate attorney for specific advise.
