Legal Question in Family Law in Illinois

Change 16 year olds custody 7/20/03

I have no $ for a lawyer. My 16 year old son, lived with his Dad until a year or so ago, then asked to live with me. At that time, I had an 401K from a previous job. I used that $ for a lawyer etc, to switch custody over to me. That didn't work out at that time, and he went back to his Dad's house, so, I signed over custody completely to his Father. Guess what? His Dad is now drinking, lost his job, has a DUI, and then started pushing his son around, and back to my house he comes.

The problem is, his Dad will not even sign him out of school, so I can get things taken care of. I have no $ now, no child support, and am scrimping by. Last court appearances happened in DeKalb county, so I need to have the following done:

#1 - Have the case brought back to Rolling Meadows, IL, Court House 3.

#2 - Have the Child agreement switched to my name only.

#3 - Switch names on Jared's trust fund to mine.

I'm just not sure what to do, I have a few phone #'s, each time I try calling, they say there is no one there to help me now? Please direct me!!

You seem to know what you have to do - it's just a matter of filing those documents with the court. If you go to the courthouse, there may be somebody there to help you. Otherwise, you may want to have DCFS intervene on your behalf.
