Re: car accident

The main question is whether the police report designates your daughter's car and Vehicle 1 or the other car: which car was at faulth. The next question is whether there were any personal injuries. Finally, what is the '96 Accord worth?

If the other driver was at fault, then their insurance will probably total your car and pay your daughter the value of it. If your daughter's friend was at fault, then your daughter is probably out of luck.

Besides these general statements, in the details of the situation there can be a lot of variations so it is impossible to tell you exactly what will happen. If the car was not worth much and the insurance company refuses to pay, it might be more costly to fight. Again, that is hard to say without knowing all the details so you may want to invest in a 30 minute legal consult with someone once the insurance company states their position.
