Legal Question in Intellectual Property in Massachusetts

contract restrictions on intellectual property

My company employment contract states that material I create while working there is considered property of the company. Does this apply to material I create on my own time, outside of the office, on my own computer, but happen to use at work as a part of my job?

Re: contract restrictions on intellectual property

You would have to provide the exact wording of the contract for reliable analysis. Many facts and circumstances may influence the result. Most commonly, as employees telecommute or work at home on office projects, the line between work and non-work is hard to draw, making the scope of employment contracts and/or employee manuals extend beyond the four walls of the place of employment.
