Legal Question in Criminal Law in Michigan
17 Year son held overnight.
My 17 year old son was in the backseat of a car, in which pot was located. He was not read his rights however fingerprinted and photoed, and kept over night. He was questioned by Pre-Trail and I was told he was charged however noone could legally tell me what with. He was never read his rights and he called later the next day for me his mother to pick him up. While on the way to the police station the cops were laughing and saying why did'nt they put the pot in the trunk.
They also gave him a piece of paper to write doen anything he could think of overnight.
And never returned his shoelaces!!!!!!
Is any of this Illegal?

All of it. Keep an eye on your mailbox for further developments and ask your son where he got the weed.

Everything the police did was probably legal. Your son needs an attorney to protect his record. If you need help with this, contact my office at www.schmierlaw.com

it doesn't sound too out of the ordinary. Rights are not read unless statements are taken. This is a common misconception. I would be happy to discuss the entire matter with you. Visit www.kliszlaw.com. Tim Klisz

Some of this may be legal and other actions may not be. Rights don't need to be read unless the cops are interrogating him. You should consult with an experienced criminal attorney, such as myself to defend your son.
