Legal Question in Discrimination Law in Michigan

Discrimination questions

Hello,

I have two discrimination questions that I need to research before I take action. I live in Warren Michigan and I am sure you are aware of the job market in this state. First, I wanted to know if there is a law in place which prevents employers who practice discrimination based on an applicants name. I am a degreed individual and I have ten years of experience within Information Technology. I have been laid off for six months and like many other individuals, I have been submitting resumes daily. Over the last six months I noticed something which caused me great concern.

My resume contains my name which in this case is Jim Jefferson in addition to all of the necessary information. After one week, I would receive the same form letter indicating my qualifications do not align with the position. After I received a number of these letters I decided to change my name to Raj Patel while keeping all of my information the same and I received a number of calls for interviews. Please note, I emailed the same employers who denied me earlier and they contacted me for an interview the same day I received the rejection letter.

I thought this was a coincidence however, this has occurred with the last ten employers and you
